What does a postpartum doula do?
The question might better be posed: What doesn’t a postpartum doula do?
And what one doula does for one mom may differ from what they do for another. At the most basic level, postpartum doulas can provide support and information about infant feeding practices — like breastfeeding — as well as tips and tricks for calming your newborn and dealing with all those new parenting responsibilities.

Before the creation of the lactation consulting profession, women of the village volunteered to help other women. Historically, mothers received support from family, friends and women of the community that offered mother to mother support for breastfeeding challenges. Breastfeeding Counselors are now individuals in the community who are called to serve and are an important part of the prenatal and postpartum education and support new mothers receive.

About Me
My name is Jessika Brent (Rathbone) and I am a Mom to two beautiful daughters. I was also a surrogate to twins and a wonderful family. I am a certified professional birth doula and a postpartum doula. Taking care of families is a huge passion that I have and it feeds my soul, I love to support and empower these families to their true and wonderful potential. Birth has been a passion for me since I was a young teen (watching baby stories on TLC), and healing and caring for them is something I love and enjoy doing. I feel a connection to families during this time in their lives, and as well as to babies.
My ultimate goal is to make you feel confident, empowered, educated and happy in our experiences together.
